Overview
Since 2018
Guided by three core principles — a people-centered approach, individualized development, and diverse growth — the College’s Undergraduate Program was established in 2018. Through a comprehensive one- to two-year “undeclared major” education for first- and second-year students, followed by specialized training provided by the six departments and one degree program to which students subsequently transfer (the Department of Education, the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling, the Department of Adult and Continuing Education, the Department of Health Promotion and Health Education, the Department of Child and Family Science, the Department of Civic Education and Leadership, and the Program of Learning Sciences), the Program helps students understand their own aspirations, make well-suited choices, and successfully return to their chosen fields for further study — building broader and more diverse career pathways.
The Undergraduate Program deeply recognizes the importance of “crossing disciplinary boundaries first, then integrating them.” After a period of diverse transdisciplinary exploration, the Program aims to offer students comprehensive cultivation that integrates transdisciplinary thinking, practice, and innovation. Beginning in 2025, building on the University’s emphasis on cultivating bilingual professional talent and on the College of Education’s rich teaching and research capacity, the Undergraduate Program has shifted from its original Chinese-taught streaming model to an all-English specialization model, and has eliminated the former second-year streaming arrangement. Under the all-English specialization model, professional training is organized into one main specialization — Global Education and Transdisciplinary Innovation — and three secondary specializations: Digital and Innovative Industry, Health and Wellbeing, and Educational Human Resource Management (formerly Human Resources and Career Planning). Through this structure, the Program cultivates international education leaders and talent with diverse transdisciplinary capabilities.
Educational Goal
Centered on “Global Education and Transdisciplinary Innovation,” the Program is committed to cultivating versatile talent equipped with a global perspective, transdisciplinary integration skills, and a spirit of innovative practice. Through an all-English teaching environment and a systematically designed transdisciplinary curriculum, students build research thinking, cross-cultural communication skills, and AI literacy in parallel over the course of their four years of study, while choosing one of three secondary specializations — Digital and Innovative Industry, Health and Wellbeing, or Educational Human Resource Management — to pursue in depth, forming a learning journey that combines both breadth and depth. The Program expects its graduates to be not only job-ready from day one, but also able, when facing complex and ever-changing global societal challenges, to continually apply transdisciplinary thinking to create solutions with social impact — becoming a new generation of leaders in the fields of education, culture, health, and talent development.
Features
Centered on global education issues, the Program develops students’ ability to understand, analyze, and solve problems within diverse cultural settings.
Facing the wave of artificial intelligence and digital transformation, the Program helps students move beyond the boundaries of a single discipline and develop versatile professional competencies suited to the demands of the era.
In an immersive learning environment, students build academic English proficiency and transdisciplinary professional knowledge in parallel, laying a solid foundation for entering international workplaces and organizations or pursuing further study.
A systematically designed curriculum guides students toward a professional direction through transdisciplinary exploration, culminating in a Capstone course that consolidates four years of learning and lays the groundwork for diverse career paths.
